Abstract:

The course will be an introduction to the theory of algebraic foliations with a view toward commutative algebra. It consists of 4 sessions:

The first session is essentially an introduction to the theory of algebraic foliations.

The second will be devoted to understanding the integrability of vector fields and the Jouanolou’s example. We will introduce the inverse question that is instead of looking for integral curves we search the vector fields which leave a curve invariant. So that, we connect the theory of algebraic foliations to syzygies and commutative algebra.

In the third session, we provide the required information from commutative algebra.

Finally, in the last session, we present the new progress in the study of the inverse question by employing commutative algebra. The content and the duration of the courses may vary or be extended depending on the interest and interaction of the audience.
